Hi! I’m Fiona

I’m originally from London, and first fell in love with travel when I spent a year in New Zealand after university. My blog focuses on the UK, New Zealand and the US, sharing itineraries, tips and guides for the countries I have spent the most time in.

You’ll also find information about travelling solo, as most of my adventures have been as a solo traveller and I love to encourage other people to give solo travel a go.

I spent 6 months living in Auckland and working as an assistant to the manager of a prison (a strange workplace, but it’s where the temp agency sent me!). I then spent 6 months exploring other parts of New Zealand.

When I got back to the UK I started planning more trips whenever I could to explore more of the world. People used to tell me they thought I was crazy for going off to different places on my own, but once I started travelling I couldn’t get enough of it. I would rather go alone than never go at all.

Where I’ve been

UK – it’s my home country so I’ve seen quite a bit of it! London, Edinburgh, Isle of Skye, Nottingham, Oxford, Brighton, Cambridge, Exeter, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, you get the idea…

New Zealand – Auckland, Christchurch, Rotorua, Taupo, Queenstown, Wanaka, Te Anau, Paihia, Wellington, Oamaru, Dunedin (basically the whole country!)

Australia – Melbourne, Sydney

Ireland – Dublin, Waterford

France – Paris, Lille

Italy – Milan, Rome

Spain – Barcelona

Switzerland – Montreux

Greece – Santorini, Crete

Russian – Moscow, St Petersburg

Canada – Toronto, Montreal

USA – all states except Hawaii thanks to a 6 month road trip, but I’ve spent the most time in California, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Massachusetts, Texas and Florida

Travel Blogging

I love to travel solo and strongly encourage it to anyone I come across if I can possibly find a way to mention travel in the conversation. I’ve had many people tell me they think I’m brave for travelling alone, but I want to show you that whether you are solo, coupled up or with kids, travel is for everyone and you shouldn’t let fear stop you.

I hope that anyone reading my blog starts to feel more excited about travel and find some great ideas about what to do in the places I’ve been to.

I love talking about where I’ve been, and want to share as much of my experience as I can.
